This was to be two one-week backpacking trips. The first week on the South Rim, the second on the North
But I had some physical problems the first trip, and decided to sit out the second part of our holiday.
So, this slide show is mostly of our Tanner - Escalante Route - Tonto - South Kaibab week.
We were an "Old Rover" trip -- four of us who had all lived in Minneapolis 30 years ago and who had met through the Minnesota Rovers Outing Club. We've all stayed 'sorta' in touch over the years, so it was fun to get together with Tom (Seattle), Char (Salt Lake City), Randy (homeless)and I live in Park City, UT.
Our itinerary:
Day 1: Tanner trail to the Colorado River
Day 2: Escalante Route: Along the river to Cardenas Creek
Day 3: Escalante Route: Along the river to Red Canyon and beyond a bit
Day 4: Tonto Trail to Hance Creek
Day 5: Tonto Trail to Cottonwood
Day 6: Tonto Trail to Cremation
Day 7: Tonto Trail to jct. with South Kaibab trail and out
