Sea2Sky:  Translated means that a crazy group of folks bicycled and hiked from the lowest point in the USA (Badwater, Death Valley at 262 below sea level) to the highest point in the Continental USA (Mt. Whitney at 14,496 above sea level).

In order to get up Mt. Whitney ,we had to do this trip in the summer. Which means, we had to bicycle in the hottest time of the year in Death Valley…like 121º F…ouch! To beat the heat, we'd get up at 2 AM every day and start riding by 3 AM. Even then, it was 96º F when we started riding each day  (…or would that still be "night").

We biked parts of 4 days, and then hiked Mt. Whitney in one day. What a trip! Only Zig was able to bike and hike every inch of the journey. The rest of us took turns getting sidelined by the heat, dehydration, or altitude.

Participants in the bike ride were: Carrie Clark, Rick Gamble, Chris Winter, Zig Sondelski, and Cheryl Soshnik. Barb Hanson joined us for the Mt. Whitney hike.

The photos here were taken by everyone in the group.
